Preparation for EEG Test

Take your usual medications unless instructed otherwise.
Avoid caffeine for at least 8 hours before the test.
Wash your hair the night before or the day of the test. Don’t put any products like hair creams, sprays or styling gels on the day of the test.
If you’re supposed to sleep during the test, sleep less or avoid sleep the night before.
You may also be given a sedative to help you relax and sleep before the test begins. If so, your doctor will ask you to bring someone who can drive you home after the test.
