Description
A thin flexible tube is inserted into the mouth and travels down the oesophagus, then into the stomach and duodenum (upper part of the small intestine).
You are advised to go for a gastroscopy if you have any signs or symptoms of nausea, vomiting, difficulty swallowing, heartburn, persistent abdominal pain or discomfort (upper part), or any symptoms suggestive of bleeding or ulcer (anaemia or black stool).
Fasting for at least 6 hours prior to the procedure is required.
