What is Breast Cancer?

Breast cancer is an uncontrolled growth of cancer forms in the cells of the breasts.

Breast cancer can occur in both men and women, but it’s far more common in women. In Malaysia, 1 in 19 women has a risk of getting breast cancer in their lifetime.

In its early stages, breast cancer may not cause any symptoms. In many cases, the symptoms of breast cancer appear as an area of thickened tissue in the breast or a lump in the breast or an armpit, and doctors will advise mammogram or breast ultrasound. However, not all lumps are cancer.

Did you know that early detection and getting appropriate medical attention can help save lives?

Diagnose early with Breast Self-Examination (BSE), Mammogram or Breast Ultrasound screening may decrease the potential for certain symptoms i.e. breast discomfort/pain. If you FIND any unusual change in your breast, see the doctor even when the breast lump is NOT PAINFUL.
